The past few weeks have brought a great deal of turmoil and confusion within the Body of Christ, particularly surrounding the situation involving Shawn Bolz and Bethel Church in Redding, California.
After prayerful consideration, we feel it is important to address this moment.
A recent video released by Christian teacher and podcaster Mike Winger has raised serious allegations regarding Shawn Bolz, including concerns about prophetic practices and allegations of sexual misconduct.
The video also highlights broader issues related to leadership culture, accountability, and oversight within parts of the charismatic movement.
In light of what has come to the surface, we believe this is a time to lean into prayerful discernment, humility, and wisdom, especially when engaging with prophetic voices, spiritual authority, and leadership.
If you have received a word from Shawn and are feeling unsettled, disappointed, or grieving, please know you are not alone. Many across the Body of Christ are processing these things, and we are here to listen and walk with you through this.
As many of you know, we are part of the Bethel Leaders Network and recognize the significant influence Bethel and its leaders have had globally. We also acknowledge that many in our community have deep relationships, spiritual history, and genuine fruit connected to these ministries.
Because of this, we want to approach this moment with great care – seeking the Lord personally, weighing what has been presented, and remaining anchored in Scripture.
When leaders fail to walk in righteousness or integrity, it is deeply painful. Yet Scripture assures us that God brings what is hidden into the light – not to shame, but to protect, heal, and purify His Church.
Our hope has never been in a person, ministry, or movement.
Our hope is in Jesus.
“It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” – Psalm 118:8
Even in seasons of exposure and refinement, the Gospel remains good news.
Dare to Believe is also closely aligned with Streams Ministries International. Years ago, John Paul Jackson helped to author a prophetic ethics statement that many Christian leaders, including us, have signed and continue to uphold.
This document reflects our ongoing commitment to equipping the Body of Christ to move in prophetic giftings with integrity, health, and accountability.
Our prayers are especially with anyone who has been harmed or deeply affected by these revelations. We pray for repentance, accountability, healing for victims, and restoration that aligns with the Word and ways of God.
If you are feeling shaken or in need of prayer or conversation, please reach out. You are not alone – we are here for you.
Grace and peace to you, and to the worldwide Body of Christ.
With care and prayer, Pastors Gary and Kristi Graner Founders of Dare to Believe Ministries
