Arise and Shine
Note from Pastor Kristi
For more than a generation our nation has been under a law that opposed the belief that all life is sacred. Abortion has been the law of the land in the United States for nearly 50 years. The fact that this law has been overturned is monumental.
This is a juncture that requires us to both pause and take action. The Lord is bringing freedom to this country from that lid that has covered us as a people for 50 years.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9
It is appropriate to both acknowledge and celebrate that this is a victory for protecting the most vulnerable. God’s Word is clear that every life is created in the image of God, and every life matters, both born and unborn.
However, a court decision will not end abortion in America. While we praise God for this breakthrough, it is important that we also continue to follow His lead in healing the root causes of such a law in the first place. In desperation, brokenness, and sin, mothers and fathers have too often neglected their God-given assignment to protect and value their children.
Roe v. Wade was in place for 50 years. The number 50 in Scripture is significant because it was the year of jubilee.
As a nation, we are entering into a spiritual jubilee. We have an opportunity to bring to light the woundedness in our society that is at the root of the belief that unborn children do not have a right to life.
“Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.” – Romans 14:1
We can seize the moment.
This shift in the law is on everyone’s mind and heart right now. It is right in front of all of us.
I pray that we as followers of Jesus will apprehend this opportunity to represent him as a loving, kind, and faithful savior. The world is ripe for deeper healing and breakthrough. I encourage you to allow the Lord to work through your life to bring deeper restoration to those around you. This is an opportunity for us to help others see how significant they are to our loving God.
People are not our enemy. There is only one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. He alone is our enemy. Don’t forget that he has been defeated.
We destroy the works of the enemy by releasing and sharing the love of our God who paid the price for us to live in freedom. This unique season in history is a rare opportunity for you to share the love and light of a God who heals, forgives and loves.
You and I are God’s representatives on this earth at this point in history. Let’s seize this opportunity to represent the love of a good Father, the hope to heal and restore because of Jesus and the ability to walk in power and strength because of God’s Spirit in us.
As we pause to thank God and to celebrate that fewer lives will be lost to abortion, I believe this news should also propel us into action. When people choose to follow God’s best for them and their babies, they need support and love.
We at Dare to Believe Ministries are committed to seeing Jesus get His reward: healing spirits, souls and bodies with God’s help.
We will continue to care for women and men by promoting their dignity, providing the support and assistance to mothers and families to help them raise their young children.
This is what God’s people can do to reduce abortions in America.
Through healing prayer, Sozo ministry and pastoral counseling programs, we also care for those who have experienced an abortion. This is where kingdom values meet real life, and it is the work we must expand in order to release the light of heaven into individual lives.
I want to acknowledge that this decision will likely stir up a wide variety of emotions, especially for those who have personally experienced abortion. If this is you, please know that we love you and continue to be here for you.
We encourage you to please reach out if you need additional support right now.
You and I are here for such a time as this. May we always live our lives with the love and compassion of Christ.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
– Isaiah 60:1-3 NIV
My prayer for you is that you will be confident in God’s love for you, and that you will shine so brightly that those around you will be drawn closer to the Light of the World and His deep love for them.
Amen.
With love,
Kristi
